Cloak and Dagger Announces 2018 Lineup Featuring DAF, She Wants Revenge and HEALTH

Adam Bravin of She Wants Revenge

A celebration of mystery and darkness comes to the historic State Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday November 10, 2018. This once-in-a-lifetime event takes place between the hours of 2 p.m. and 2 a.m. and features the U.S. debut and only North American appearance of DAF. Also performing at this year’s event are She Wants Revenge, The Faint, HEALTH, Boy Harsher, Black Mare, Tamaryn and Boan.

Adam Brevin (She Wants Revenge) and producer Michael Patterson began the Cloak & Dagger weekly members-only parties in 2015. The popularity of C&D parties led to the two-day Cloak & Dagger Festival: Dusk Till Dawn in 2017. Monthly C&D events also occur in Chicago and Mexico City, with plans to include London in 2019.

Black clad attendees enjoy the day to evening event immersed in an interactive world of music, dancing, and mysterious experiences. Guests can choose to participate in exclusive one-on-one storylines or more subtle narratives where close attention to one’s surroundings is necessary to participate. Some guests are chosen to participate in experiences at any moment.

Writer/director Annie Lesser and visual designer Adam LaBay return to create the magical interactive environment Cloak & Dagger events are known for.

“Annie started working with Cloak & Dagger in the very beginning of the weekly parties. She wrote everything for the Cloak and Dagger: Dusk Till Dawn Festival last year, said Adam Brevin.

“I feel like a lot of festivals are trying to do more immersive stuff, but they’re just brushing the surface,” Annie said in 2017. Having a music festival have its own story really feels like something that makes it stand out.”

She Wants Revenge, formed in 2003, have toured with the likes of Depeche Mode and The Psychedelic Furs and gained popularity in 2015 when their song “Tear You Apart” appeared on American Horror Story: Hotel. Band member Adam Brevin said, “My band She Wants Revenge will be part of the lineup again this year and we definitely have some surprises lined up for the show.”

German EDM band DAF, who formed in 1978, have influenced many bands during their 40-year career with their combination of high energy performances and use of live drums and synthesizers. DAF will release an anniversary box set in September.

“We are extremely excited to present the very first DAF performance in the United States ever, the same year they are celebrating their 40-year anniversary as a band,” said Bravin.

Los Angeles natives, HEALTH, released DISCO3, third in their remix series, in February 2017. In addition to Cloak and Dagger, HEALTH will also perform at this year’s Riot Fest in Chicago.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to honor the Cloak & Dagger dress code of all black.

UPDATE (10/25): The Cloak & Dagger festival that is set occur on November 10th has shifted gears and is moving locations due to such a high demand for ticket sales. Instead of hosting the 11-hour event at the State Theater, the organizers of the festival has decided to put on the event at the grand Los Angeles Theater where they have added an additional stage. This move is to allow even more people and fans to enjoy the festival in its fullest. The second stage means an extended list of bands and DJs for fans to enjoy including Christian Death, TR/ST, Drag Majesty, and SRSQ.

“The venue is absolutely the most beautiful theater in Los Angeles and we’ve been holding out for it, so when a date opened up, we jumped at the chance,” says co-curator DJ Adam 12.

UPDATE (10/31): Unfortunately, Cloak and Dagger has announced that DAF will not longer be able to perform. They were scheduled to make their first United States appearance ever, after 40 years of existence, but were met with visa issues and could not travel to the festival.
