Rock and awe legend Rob Zombie has announced that he has officially wrapped up recording his seventh solo record, even calling the upcoming album “the best record we’ve ever made.”
“The record’s done,” he elaborated in an interview with Loudwire. “It’ll get out next year, early next year. I think this and so do the guys in the band – I think it’s the best record we’ve made. Parts of it are the heaviest, parts are the weirdest, it’s the most complex record we’ve ever made, but at the same time it’s always very catchy and listenable, but it’s the most intricately structured record.”
Zombie continues, “I know everybody says, ‘Oh, our new record’s the best record. Blah, blah, blah.’ No one gives a shit. I never want to look at things like, ‘Oh, you know, the best shit we did was long ago.’ A lot of bands these days have given up on making records it seems. I don’t understand that.”
“There are those songs that go in a direction we’ve never even gone near before,” said Zombie when asked about what fans can come to expect for this as-of-yet untitled release. “There are those songs that go in a direction we’ve never even gone near before. Personally, I like records that are very varied in sound. Not just like, ‘Oh, here’s 12 super heavy tracks,’ and they’re all the same tempo. I like records that are all over the place. That’s why I think my favorite Beatles record was always [1968’s] The White Album, because it was all over the place.”
Perhaps that is why Zombie has covered the track “Helter Skelter” from The White Album on his latest tour with Marilyn Manson. Having publicly squashed the feud he has had with the Antichrist Superstar from 2012, Zombie is enjoying his company on the road for their second “Twins of Evil” tour.
With the tour, plus directing duties for his upcoming film “3 From hell,” it’s a wonder how Zombie managed to make space for writing and recording a new full-length in his schedule.
