Minneapolis rapper Sims, of Doomtree will go on tour with producer ICETEP and hip-hop duo Air Credits beginning September 12 at Globe Hall in Denver, Colorado, as part of the 2018 Artería Verité. The tour is named after the collaborative album Artería Verité made between the artists, which is set to be released on August 3rd by Doomtree Records.
Artería Verité is set to be a concept album featuring dystopian themes over futuristic synth sounds and heavy bass lines. According to a press release, the project will host lyrics “speaking to our baser needs to find each other, especially when in the shit.”
Sims and rapper ShowYouSuck of Air Credits will be rapping on the project while ICETEP and Steve Reidell of Air Credits will be handling its production. ” Three tracks have been released for the project so far, “Hologramme,” and “Octadent,”which was released on July 10, and “Eye in the Sky,” which was released on July 18.
A music video was released for “Eye in the Sky,” showing rappers ShowYouSuck and Sims across various distorted backgrounds. The scenes switch from black and white to color, with the group’s faces dissipating in and out of the background. in addition, the group members are shown to be walking around an abandoned factory.
Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sims is a founding member of the local hip-hop group Doomtree, who’s has also recorded as a solo artist for over 13 years. Since the release of his first album Lights Out Paris in 2005, the rapper has released two more studio albums. His most recent solo project More Than Ever was released in 2016 and was produced by ICETEP.
The rapper is also a member of the Doomtree-offshoot Shredders, which contains group members P.O.S, Paper Tiger and Lazerbeak. Shredders released a self-titled EP back in July 2017.
Fellow Minneapolis artist ICETEP has produced for other Doomtree artists in the past besides Sims, including Lazerbeak and Dessa. In addition, ICETEP has produced for the Minneapolis-based rapper Astronautalis.
Air Credits are rapper ShowYouSuck and producer Steve Reidell of Hood Internet fame from Chicago, Illinois. The group has released two projects thus far, 2016’s Broadcasted, and 2017’s Omega Virus. Reidell has released 14 mixtapes, three remix albums and one studio album release with producer Aaron Brink as part of The Hood Internet.
The Air Credits duo has seen their share of success, making an appearance at SXSW’s “The Chi” back in March. The event highlighted several Chicago based artists including Melo Makes Music, Knox Fortune and Joey Purp, in addition to Air Credits.
