It’s Public Image LD’s 40th anniversary, and this year the band is celebrating the occasion in style. Not only do they have a career-spanning boxset and documentary film in the works, the band is embarking on their ‘The Public Image Is Rotten: North American Tour,’ visiting 18 major cities beginning Oct. 9 in New Orleans and ending Nov. 6 in Mexico City.
Among the anniversary activity is the release of The Public Image Is Rotten (Songs From The Heart) a career–spanning 5CD/2DVD box set, due out July 20. The box set features the PiL Singles Collection (1978-2015), B-sides, and a live concert from 1989. The DVD also includes promo videos + footage as well as two full Public Image LtD. concerts.
The Public Image is Rotten documentary film will make its North American theatrical premiere on Friday, September 14 in New York City at The Metrograph, following premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York and at London’s Raindance Festival. The career-spanning documentary tells the story of the group with never-before-seen footage and eye-opening interviews from the band and their family and friends. Following the New York City premiere, more theatrical dates are expected, to coincide with Public Image LtD’s North American fall tour.
Coming off of their sold out UK/Europe tour, Public Image LtD’s The Public Image is Rotten: North American Tour has dates scheduled in Atlanta, Chicago, Montreal and Los Angeles. Tickets are available for purchase here. North American Tour Dates are listed below.
