It’s been a busy year for producer Oneohtrix Point Never, who just released his ninth studio album Age Of on June 1st. As a follow up to this release, Daniel Lopatin will drop The Station EP on July 27, along with a music video for the title track; which is set to be released before the EP.
“The Station,” will be the second music video and single to be released for Age Of, following “Black Snow,” which was released in April. In addition to this single, The Station EP will feature three new tracks including “Trance 1,” which was recently released globally.
Lopatin will also release these three new tracks on a limited-edition vinyl, with the song “We’ll Take It,” on July 27. This 12-inch We’ll Take It EP will feature a third tarot-card design cover by David Rudnick, who used this style for the covers of the“Black Snow,” single and The Station EP.
The artist is currently touring for his MYRIAD live shows, which began back in May 22, at Manhattan’s Park Avenue Armory. Another show for the tour will take place at the DIsney Concert Hall in Los Angeles California in October. According to a live-review from The Guardian, the MYRIAD tour is a “journey to a jaw-dropping sonic dystopia.”
The Brooklyn-based experimental electronic musician began releasing music as Oneohtrix Point Never back in 2007, with the release of Betrayed in the Octagon on the Deception Island label. Lopatin later gained widespread fame in 2009, after the No Fun record label released his first three albums Betrayed in the Octagon, Zones Without People and Russian Mind, together as part of the Rifts compilation album.
In 2013 Lopatin signed to Warp records, the home of acclaimed experimental electronic musicians Aphex Twin, Authechre and Flying Lotus. That same year he released his sixth record overall and first with the label: R Plus Seven. The album was included in many 2013 year-end lists including Pitchfork and Drowned In Sound.
Since signing to Warp, Lopatin has collaborated with many artists, teasing a collab with FKA Twigs toward the end of 2017, helping Anohni come to their own on Paradise, and featuring the legendary Iggy Pop and Twilight actor Robert Pattinson in the music video for “The Pure And The Damned.”
On his latest release Age Of, Lopatin brings vocalist and electronic music producer James Blake on as a co-producer, while featuring Anohni, and Prurient on backing vocals. Since its release, Age Of has also seen critical acclaim from music reviewers, while peaking at number 8 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Chart.
