The black metal band from Norway, Immortal, is gearing up to release their forthcoming ninth studio album, Northern Chaos Gods on July 6th via Nuclear Blast. The disk will feature eight new tracks spanning 42 minutes. One of the eight tracks includes the latest single “Mighty Ravendark.” Today, they have released the official lyric video for the track according to Blabbermouth and can be viewed down below.
Though there is nothing special about the lyric provided video but that is okay, it is the monstrous song that fans come to listen to anyways. The song is filled with screechy vocals and towering score. It’s running time is less than 10 minutes but for hardcore fans, it isn’t enough.
The album, Northern Chaos Gods, is the band’s first album since their 2014 split with frontman Abbath. It is produced by Peter Tägtgren (Abyss Studio), who also produced the band’s At The Heart of Winter, Damned In Black, Songs of Northern Darkness and All Shall Fall LPs. Tägtgren also plays the bass on the recording. Pre-orders of the album are available via Nuclear Blast web store.
In a statement regarding the upcoming new album, Demonaz and Horgh had this to say about the new record. “We are eternally dedicated to Immortal and our own musical past,” they continued by saying, “The album is conceptual, and the first step in the reclaiming of our past grimness and attitude. Loyalty to the fans and our own musical history is very significant in this. Our new album will soon be available, with songs from the very gates of Blashyrkh — the realm of all darkness and cold.”
“We have put a massive amount of energy into this, and wanted to deliver our absolutely best,” Demonaz and Horgh said. “It has been a pleasure to finish the studio process and most of all being stoked about the final result. Peter Tägtgren has done an outstanding job in producing and mixing it. We now look forward to have it released, and are excited to share our ninth full-length with you all.”
Immortal came together back in 1996 and the original trio consisted of Abbath (whose real name is Olve Eikemo), lyricist/guitarist Demonaz (whose real name is Harald Naevdal) and drummer Horgh (whose real name is Reidar Horghagen) who hail from Bergen, Norway. They put out five studi0 albums together.
