In 2014 Nirvana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and joining surviving members Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, and Krist Novoselic that night were the likes of St. Vincent, Joan Jett, and Lorde. It was one of the most incredible moments of the evening, and it left fans wanting more performances from the makeshift supergroup.
After that performance, the three surviving members played an unannounced gig at the Brooklyn club St. Vitus, where they were joined by Jett, St. Vincent, J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. and John McCauley of Deer Tick. As reported by Loudwire, Grohl has indicated that the video footage from the show may soon see the light of day, saying that at the time he had no idea whether or not they would ever release the recordings from the concert but now he feels confident that the footage will get a public release.
Of course, Grohl is currently busy with a bunch of other projects, including a 25-minute instrumental track that he is working on all by himself, as well as continuing to front the Foo Fighters. The Foo Fighters are currently on summer tour in support of their most recent album, Concrete & Gold, and the band was recently joined by some members of Guns N Roses for version of the classic “It’s so Easy” at a festival in Italy. Grohl’s first band, the punk group Scream will be re-releasing their debut record, 1988’s NMC17 (No More Censorship) which is regarded as a landmark release in the East Coast punk scene.
