Renaldo’s career has spanned decades. He worked as a solo artist and producer and played in several bands. Most notably, the band Sonic Youth, formed with Thurston Moore in the ’80s. Characterized by their use of loud guitars and alternative tunings, Sonic Youth helped to pioneer the noise rock and alternative rock movements. After several years as underground favorites, the band achieved mainstream success in the ’90’s and headlined Lollapalooza in 1995. In 2010, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Ranaldo at #33 on their list of 100 greatest guitarists. Sonic Youth disbanded in 2011, but Ranaldo continues to produce albums and tour and released the album Electric Trim, in September of last year.
Ranaldo is currently on tour in South America and returns to the U.S. this fall. See more concert information here.
