Dance music legends Orbital are set to release a new album in September, called Monsters Exist. Today they release the latest song from the album, an uptempo track called “P.H.U.K.” The song is accompanied by a video which shows images around the band’s home country of the United Kingdom, showcasing the many social issues that it faces.
At the root of the issues showcased in the video for “P.H.U.K.,” symbols of economic inequity are juxtaposed. Grenfell Tower, extravagant billionaire flats, homeless on the streets and other gripping images are shown in split screens, with each frame illustrated with a message that reads “Align Left Eye” and “Align Right Eye.” Tenement housing collapses while luxury high-rises soar in the distance, which as director Felix Green explains, “[highlights] some of the ironies, dissonances and juxtapositions present in UK politics and culture.”
The band is also playing several live dates in the United Kingdom and Europe. Festival stops on the tour include Camp Bestival, Cruilla Festival and Beat Yard Festival.
