mxdwn PREMIERE: The Brazen Youth Share Breezy New Song “You Could Not Provoke Me”

Connecticut newcomers The Brazen Youth specialize in a pleasant sort of indie pop that calls to mind the bedroom folk that gained popularity in the late ’00s. Their latest single “You Could Not Provoke Me,” which we are premiering today is no exception. The song is chock full of gentle instrumentation, soaring melodies and a general folksy attitude that allows the track to simply glide by.

The Brazen Youth were formed in 2014 by Nicholas Lussier and Charles Dahlke in the town of Lyme, CT – best known for its eponymous tick-related disease. The group now resides at a farm, called Ashlawn, which plays a huge influence the group’s sound. The pastoral strumming and pleasant harmonizing in “You Could Not Provoke Me” are certainly evocative of lush Atlantic Coast countryside, with rolling hills and dense tree canopies.

The band released their first album The Ever Dying Bristlecone Man and after touring behind the record, received the kind of response that encouraged them to seriously pursue the group. They are currently working on the follow-up, which would be their second LP.

The band has a pair of dates coming up in September. Both are on the East Coast with the first in Providence, RI and the second in Boston, MA.

The Brazen Youth tour dates

09/05 – Providence, RI. – AS220
09/06 – Boston, MA. – O’Brien’s
