The Joy Formidable Announces New Album AAARTH for September 2018 Release

The Joy Formidable are back with the announcement of a new album set for a September 2018 release. The Welsh band’s fourth album will be called AAARTH and will come out September 28, 2018 on Hassle Records. In addition to the new album, the band has released a new song called “The Wrong Side,” which premiered yesterday on BBC Radio 1. It joins “Dance of the Lotus” as the second song to be released from the new album.

AAARTH is the follow-up to 2016’s Hitch and it promises to showcase a further evolution of the unique heavy-yet-melodic sound of guitarist and vocalist Ritzy Bryan, bassist Rhydian Dafydd and drummer Matt Thomas. The record was created in the band’s mobile recording studio, which they took around the world. The inspiration of the varying setting plays a part in the sonic dynamic of the record.

AAARTH Track Listing:

“Y Bluen Eira”
“The Wrong Side”
“Go Loving”
“Cicada (Land on Your Back)”
“All in All”
“What For”
“The Better Me”
“Absence”
“Dance of the Lotus”
“You Can’t Give Me”
“Caught on a Breeze”

The band has returned to the road quite recently, with their first show taking place at the Robert Smith-curated Meltdown Festival. The Cure’s frontman curated a great lineup, which included Nine Inch Nails, Deftones and My Bloody Valentine (who debuted new song). The Joy Formidable will first play a European tour in August before coming stateside for a months-long Fall 2018 tour that touches on most major cities in Canada and the United States. Several of these dates will be opening for the Foo Fighters, providing The Joy Formidable the chance to translate their huge guitar sound to the arena setting.
