Over the weekend, metal fans were treated to another incredible edition of the annual Hellfest in Clisson, France. Fans were pleasantly surprised to see Kristian Nairn, known for playing ‘Hodor’ on ‘Game of Thrones,’ made an appearance to introduce Megadeth before they stormed onto the stage. According to The PRP, Nairn actually did more than just introduce the band, as he jammed backstage with the group before their performance.

While Nairn has been known for his musical projects and his DJ career, few knew of his impressive skills with the electric guitar, until now. Megadeth lead guitarist Kiko Loureiro posted a short video on his Instagram showing Narin ripping through part of the Megadeth staple “Holy Wars” backstage with bassist David Ellefson and guitarist Dave Mustaine. Narin’s massive size and big hands made it look like he was holding a toy guitar but he was actually playing one of Loureiro’s signature guitars.

Megadeth continues to be one of the top acts in metal, with the band capable of delivering some impressive live performances. The group is still touring in support of 2016’s Dystopia, but Mustaine has said in recent months that the band has been writing new material and will be entering the studio soon to record a new album. This will mark the first recording with new drummer Dirk Verbeuren, who replaced Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler behind the drum throne after it became apparent that he could not manage the hectic schedules of both bands.

You can check out footage of Narin playing backstage with Megadeth below.
