Nine Mile Records has announced the release of the self-titled debut album from the new collective known as Glorietta. The LP, available August 24, grew out Matthew Logan Vasquez’s desire to collaborate, with a few of his friends. Those friends, Noah Gundersen, Kelsey Wilson, David Ramirez, Jason Robert Blum and Grammy winner Adrian Quesada, along with Vasquez, officially became Glorietta last year. The group embarked on a nine-day recording session in a rented house in Glorieta, NM, where they were joined by Nathanial Rateliff who lends his soulful vocals to the track “I Know.”
The second single off Glorietta “Golden Lonesome” premiered Friday. Listen to it here.
Singer-songwriter Noah Gundersen, has worked both as a solo artist and in the bands Beneath Oceans and The Courage. Gundersen achieved mainstream success when several of his songs appeared on the popular television shows The Vampire Diaries and The Originals on CW and Sons of Anarchy on FX.
“When Matt invited us down to Glorieta, he asked each of us to bring a tune or two,” said Noah Gundersen. “The day I was supposed to fly down, I figured I should probably try and throw something together. I had just split up with someone I really cared about, for the second time (it never really seems to stick until the second time) and I was having a bit of a meltdown. I almost considered cancelling my flight. But instead I wrote this song and then called a Lyft to the airport.”
Mathew Logan Vasquez is the lead singer of indie band Delta Spirit and has also released two solo albums. His latest album, Does What He Wants, came out last year.
Glorietta will embark on a U.S. tour that includes summer festival dates, to promote their self-titled debut album. Their headline tour begins in October. See tour dates below.
