Trent Reznor Calls Out Taylor Swift in New Interview for Her Political Silence

It is clear that Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor is not the biggest fan of President Donald Trump, as he has not been afraid to call out the President. He previously called the president a “fucking moron” in statement and continued to say “That’s what gets me the most — that he’s this vulgar, grotesque dope, everything I hate in people. Reznor most recently said President Trump is a “complete imbecile.” He also pointed out that because of US citizens choosing Trump as president, “America may be the most demoralized country in the world. I know that many Americans dislike this situation. He went on to say “I think it’s dangerous, it’s just the terrible reflection of a country that devotes itself to consuming social networks and shitty products.” With his strong dislike for President Trump, Reznor is now aiming at country turned pop superstar Taylor Swift.

According to Consequence of Sound, Reznor calls out musicians by staying silent to keep their brands intact. In a New York Times interview that “the Taylor Swifts of the world, and top-tier, needle-moving cultural youth,” who stay silent “because they are concerned about their brand, their demographic and their success and career and whatnot.”Swift has been criticized for this in the past, especially since other pop artists including Katy Perry have voiced their opinions.

Reznor continued to say “It’s not the conservative agenda, it’s not a question of religious preference, it’s not a question of should government be big or small. I don’t have any problem with those topics,” Reznor added. “But the disregard for decency and truth and civility is what’s really disheartening. It feels like a country that celebrates stupidity is really taking it up a notch.”

With Nine Inch Nails, the band debuted a new song called “Ahead Of Our Lives” at a concert in Las Vegas this past weekend. “Ahead Of Our Lives” is off of their upcoming new album Bad Witch. Bad Witch is set to be released this Friday.
