Rammstein Members Indicate 2018 Release for First New Album in Nine Years

The German metal band Rammstein is coming out of hiding. The band has been talking for years about releasing something new and they have finally done it, sort of.

Members of the band have indicated that something new is coming this year. This will be the first new album in about nine years. After their work in 2014, they decided to take some time out of the studio. They decided to meet again in 2015 to see if the time was right to write and record again. After that brief break, the band got together again to produce and release some tour documentaries, one of those being Rammstein in Amerika.

Guitarist Richard Kruspe said in an interview last summer, “It’s always a big challenge for us to do those records, sometimes we’re afraid we won’t survive those records…we decided to just try to do five songs. All of a sudden, two year later and at the moment we have 28 ideas.” This is indicative that their minds have been working.

According to Loudwire, Kruspe also said this, “I always believe that we when we did a record that it was the last one. Always, since the first record… Life is full of surprises that always taught me a different lesson.”

The band has just announced two shows in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for New Year’s Eve 2018. Stubhub has said, “At this time, the band is in the final phase of the production of their seventh studio album which will be released before the end of the year, so Mexican fans will very likely be the first to hear the new songs, also highlighting that these concerts are the only that the band opened in the whole workd during 2018.” Mexico, you’re a pretty lucky group.

After that show, there will of course be footage of the music that the band is planning to release.

This May, the band has begun touring again. According to a July interview with Resurrection Fest, this album, Kruspe said, could be the band’s last.
