The end of June will see Jim James, the frontman of My Morning Jacket returning with his third solo album called Uniform Distortion. Today, James has announced that he would hit the road for a unique, career-spanning solo-acoustic tour.
It will begin November 2nd at the Cathedral Sanctuary in Los Angeles, California and after that, James will visit historic theaters and performing arts centers all across North America wrapping up at the Lousiville Palace in Louisville, Kentucky on November 21st. Throughout these scheduled dates, the acclaimed My Morning Jacket frontman will be accompanied by his longtime touring drummer David Givan, and the two will perform a career- encompassing repertoire as well as songs from James long-awaited new album which is set to come out everywhere June 28th. The tour will also feature support Alynda Segarra from Hurray for the Riff Raff on all dates.
In a press statement, James had this to say about the upcoming tour; “I am looking forward to exploring all sorts of songs stripped down as they first occurred in their natural habitat — just voice and guitar. Although I have played many shows by myself, this will be my first tour of this style, and I am excited to see everyone out on the open road.”
James’ upcoming schedule tour will also include a one-night-only set at the Greek Theatre Berkeley in Berkeley, California with supporting act Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters on June 21st. It also includes a sold-out full-band performance set at Los Angeles’ intimate Pico Union as James celebrates the release of Uniform Distortion. That performance is slated for July 18th.
Not only is this upcoming solo tour by James going to be something fans of his is going to remember for a long time but by purchasing a ticket to see any one of his live performances, fans are putting their money to a good cause. It appears that one dollar for every ticket purchased will go to The Waterfall Project, whose beneficiaries will be United for A Fair Economy and National Bail Fund Network. According to My Morning Jacket’s website, the project is dedicated to support and promote actions, big and small, for positive change in the world.
Those who wish to attend these dates and support this good cause can visit James’ official website when tickets go on sale Friday, June 22nd.
