Marilyn Manson Shares Cover of “Cry Little Sister” From The Lost Boys Soundtrack

Over the past few months, small amounts of music by Marilyn Manson have trickled out, but there has been one song that he has only teased us with. For a while, there was anticipation as Manson fans sat at the edge of their seats waiting to hear Marilyn Manson’s voice sing the words to the 1980’s theme of the Santa Cruz, California teen-horror film The Lost Boys. Originally, the song was written by Gerard McMahon and Michael Mainieri. When recorded to soundtrack, McMahon performed the piece, however, the song never reached the U.S. Billboard charts. The soundtrack itself, though, peaked at number 15.

Now, according to The Prp, Marilyn Manson has finally released the cover he has been teasing about. When listening to the new cover, one can hear the original percussion that made “Cry Little Sister” what it is. The difference, though, lies in the rest of the music as well as Manson’s vocals. Before the verse comes in, a rugged synth plays over the 1980s beat as a guitar wails in agony. The verses step in and one can hear the vocal style Manson is known for: his dark, intimate style really makes which helps to really make the song his own. As the chorus drops, a choir joins in, emphasizing the darkness of biblical thought as Manson’s fuzz-guitar style voice carries the song down a dark and sparkling chasm. See the whole song below.

There is also a music video for this new cover which was directed by Bill Yukich of Korn and Opeth. Manson’s cover of The Lost Boys track “Cry Little Sister” was recently used for the new X-Men film called The New Mutants, which will release next summer on August 2nd.

Born Brian Hugh Warner, Marilyn Manson began his career in 1989 and has yet to rest. Not only has he been a part of the music industry for nearly thirty years, but Warner has also has his hand in film, television, art, and, the biggest entertainment industry of all, video games.

UPDATE (6/30): Marilyn Manson has released a video for his cover of the classic song “Cry Little Sister.” The song by Gerard McMahon was included in the soundtrack for the 1987 film The Lost Boys. The visuals consist of Manson on stage with a ghoulish appearance. Check it out below.
