Former Majical Clouds Singer Devon Welsh Releases New Song “Vampire”

For those unfamiliar with Majical Cloudz, they are an indie pop group from Canada who struck the hearts of many with their powerful melodies and swooning vocals. Formed in 2010 with members Devon Welsh, Matthew Duffy, and Matthew Otto, the band spent six years working hard on their music and sound before they decided to unfortunately split up.

Now, however, through a recent press release, frontman Devon Welsh has shared an incredible new single with the world titled “Vampires” that is accompanied by a heartwarming homemade music video.

The music opens with a somber organ chord progression that quickly leads into minimalist piece of work, mainly focusing on keys and vocals. As the video moves forward, the audience starts to realize that we are not following the human characters but, rather, a balloon’s face reminiscent of Plank from the show Ed, Edd, and Eddy. A twinkling guitar sparks in and replaces the chords of the organ for a short time. Welsh walks back to the chorus and the organ joins in to create a soft cacophony of music and shining melodies. Check out the whole song and video below.

Welsh’s new single “Vampires” is the follow-up to his most recent track release “I’ll Be Your Ladder, which you can check out here. “Vampires” is produced by Austin Tufts of the band Braids.
