Kristin Hersh Shares New Single “Breathe In” From Possible Dust Clouds LP

Kristin Hersh has a lot to celebrate this year. The Indie Rocker most recognized as the frontwoman for the influential art-punk band Throwing Muses and power trio 50FOOTWAVE just signed to Fire Records, her next album entitled Possible Dust Clouds is set to release October of 2018, and she will be performing at Robert Smith’s Meltdown on June 21. She also revealed that she is recording a new Throwing Muses album. Now, to add to it all, the singer and songwriter just announced two more things to celebrate; a string of UK dates starting June 17th as well sharing a new song from the record; Possible Dust Clouds called “Breathe In.”

The new song, which Hersh shared via Soundcloud, is a meaty track just only Hersh’s vocals and the powerhouse of its two instruments. Her vocals break through right under the minute mark urging listeners to “breathe in cause breathe in is what you do.”

On Hersh’s new single, she is joined by Fred Abong (Throwing Muses, Bell) on bass and Hersh’s son, Wyatt True, on drums. “Breathe In” isn’t the first song that Hersh has delivered to fans from her upcoming new album. Her previously released song, “LAX” came out last month and in it, she was accompanied by Chris Brady (Pond) on vocals and Rob Ahlers (50FootWave) on drums.

Throwing Muses, an alternative rock band that formed in the early ‘80s and who played with similar artists, such as The Pixies and Dinosaur Jr. Their most recent new material was in 2013 when they released their double CD masterpiece Purgatory/Paradise. Hersh’s solo career kicked off in 1994 with the release of the acclaimed album called Hips and Makers. The record included “Your Ghost,” a duet she did with Michael Stipe from R.E.M.

After her debut, she had continued to release distinct individual solo albums including Crooked, came out in 2010 as her first in the innovative book/CD format that is she now known.  Hersh’s last record, Wyatt at the Coyote Palace was released back in 2016. On it, she played all of the instruments, and the album received rave reviews. In 2004, she formed the power trio 50FOOTWAVE, releasing a series of frighteningly intense mini-albums, all available for download free of charge.
