Earlier this month, rapper Kanye West released his eighth studio album entitled ye. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 this week. The record has only seven new tracks and still is one of Wests most acclaimed album. It features collaborators such as Nicki Minaj, Kid Cudi, Ty Dolla Sign, Jeremih, Charlie Wilson, 070 Shake, and John Legend.
In an incredible feat, it appears, according to The Fader, that every song on West’s new album has entered into the Billboard Hot 100 chart within the top 40 slot. His leading song, “Yikes” debuted at # 8 and it earns the rapper his 16th top ten records according to Billboard.
This feat makes West’s album one of a handful full-lengths to do so. With ye, West has tied with JAY-Z for artists with the most top 40 hits on the charts along with Nicki Minaj for sixth all-time in hip-hop acts with top 10 hits. In the album’s first week out, it had 180 million streams and sold 85,000 copies as a full album, according to Nielsen. This number is the equivalent of 208,000 album sales in the United States.
The other songs have found themselves sitting pretty on the chart. “All Mine” sits comfortably outside the top 10 at number 11. It is followed by “Ghost Town” which fell in the number 16 slot. “Wouldn’t Leave” comes in at number 24, “Violent Crimes” at number 27, while the other two, “I Thought About Killing You” comes to a few slots under 30 at number 28 and “No Mistakes” is at the number 36 slot.
Earlier this month, West released his third album of 2018 with collaborator Kid Cudi entitled Kids See Ghosts through West’s music label G.O.O.D. Music/ Def Jam.
