Through a recent press release, DeJ Loaf announced the release of her newest song titled “Liberated” which features the incomparable Leon Bridges. In support of this new release, DeJ Loaf has also released a video alongside the single that features individual humans talking about what being liberated really means to them. See the entirety of the “Liberated” content at her new site peoplegetliberated.com, which will showcase the new testimonial videos in realtime as well as some fun collaborative playlists.
The official music video for “Liberated” opens with the definition for the aforementioned word. The scene quickly breaks and the audience begins to see and hear various people discussing what liberation means to them. While they talk, a beautiful humming of a synthesizer plays beneath as a small brass melody plays over and over. Soon the testimonials stop and the steel dreams transitions us into the song. DeJ Loaf begins the verses before Leon Bridges comes in singing in an almost falsetto. As he sings, DeJ Loaf backs him up on vocals, accentuating the beauty in the syntax and words. The video blends scenes of protests and dancing in an effortless way, making the entirety of the “Liberation” creation inspiring, bright, fun, and safe. When talking about her hopes for the music, DeJ really sees this song doing more than just bringing pleasure: “It is such a powerful, life affirming song. “Liberated” is about freeing yourself from negativity, doubt, or anything that shackles you. It’s about feeling confident, proud and alive. That moment when you aren’t looking over your shoulder or worrying about what others are thinking. When you realize you are LIVING. Kick off your heels, let your hair down, turn the volume up, break out into dance, be free to be you! I want people to hear the song and feel fearless. The message is simple – just do it!”
