Record labels are constantly searching for the “next big thing,” often with that artist sitting right under their noses. That seems to be the case with Ocean Pleasant, an indie pop artist who melds folk harmonies with electronic energy. That ability to mix genres is perfectly showcased on the artist’s latest single “All Or Nothing.” The song features atmospheric instrumentals, guided by pleasant keyboards and a thumping tribal beat.
This talent and ambition has not gone unrecognized, with Pleasant making the Forbes 30 under 30 list due to her founding of REAL Magazine at the age of 17. This ability to gracefully push boundaries is made clear in “All Or Nothing,” taking simple elements like vocals, piano and electronic beats and throwing it into a melting pot with exceptional returns. Lyrically, she asks the subject of the song whether there is any shred of their relationship that’s salvageable, or if it has to be “all or nothing.”
At just 21 years of age, Ocean Pleasant is years ahead of some of her likeminded peers. She also worked with indie pop group Souja, providing background vocals.
