Justin Vernon and Aaron & Bryce Dessner Launch New Online Music Platform PEOPLE, Release New EP as Big Red Machine and Announce PEOPLE Festival

Members of Bon Iver and The National have teamed up to provide fans with beneficial music platform called PEOPLE. The platform from Justin Vernon along with Aaron & Bryce Dessner will launch in August as an added bonus to go along with the second annual PEOPLE Festival in Berlin, Germany.

PEOPLE is featuring the new project from Justin Vernon and Aaron Dessner called Big Red Machine and new EP that will have collaborations with Richard Reed Parry, Lisa Hannigan, Kate Stables, Brad Cook, Phoebe Bridgers and Bryce Dessner. The platform also features music from This Is The Kit, Polica, Sufjan Stevens, Doveman and Matt Berninger. Also featured on the platform is a cover of the classic song “Memories” by Leonard Cohen provided by the Dessners.

“We are a steadily growing group of international artists who have come together to create and share our work freely, with each other and everyone. We call it PEOPLE. It was born of a wish to establish an independent and nurturing space in which to make work (generally around music) that is collaborative, spontaneous and expressive in nature and where all unnecessary distractions or obstacles that get in the way are removed.

PEOPLE is for the benefit and development of the artists involved and just as importantly, for those who would like to access and enjoy the output. It is as much about the process of making work and showing all that openly, as the final outcome.”

The festival gates will open August 18 and 19 and will utilize seven stages at the historic 1950’s Funkhaus in Berlin. It will feature surprise performances designed to leave the audience guessing while wanting more. It is promised the experience will bring perfect sound quality that will raise expectations and cause genuine surprise and excitement.
