Gorillaz has announced the complete lineup for the U.S. incarnation of Demon Dayz Los Angeles, which will take place Saturday, October 20 at Pico Rivera Sports Arena & Grounds, approximately 10 minutes from downtown LA. The group confirmed the lineup will include performances by Erykah Badu, The Internet, Dram and more.
Gorillaz recently announced their new record The Now Now, will be released June 29, and an upcoming North American 2018 tour in support of their album will begin October 8 in Toronto and conclude October 20 at Demon Dayz LA.
Chief musical contributor Damon Albarn has also announced supergroup The Good The Bad and The Queen will release their upcoming album in 2018, and in an interview with The Times Albarn discusses the possibility of a new Blur album. “I can always make a Blur record. It’s easy.” He goes on to discuss his interest in a new album, saying, “It’s not just me, it’s the rest of the band, too. It’s disruptive for them. For me, it’s what I do all the time, but Alex [James] for instance, is doing well with his farm. He loves coming back into that world, but it’s probably best he doesn’t too often…”
In 2017, the inaugural Demon Dayz took place amid carnival rides and comfort food at the Dreamland Margate vintage fairground and featured guests De La Soul and Vince Staples. This year, via a press release, Gorillaz promises to synthesize the festival experience “to create an auditory, visual and physical version of the Gorillaz universe for fans to explore.”
Demon Dayz LA will feature two stages, and include an area for performances in an iconic Mexican rodeo ring. The full lineup includes Gorillaz, Erykah Badu, The Internet, DRAM, Little Simz, Kilo Kish, Ana Tijoux, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Tony Allen, Las Cafeterias and Chulita Vinyl Club.
Tickets for Demon Dayz LA go on sale Friday, June 8 at 10AM PST https://demondayz.frontgatetickets.com/. General admission is $99 while VIP passes run from $199 to $349.
