Isaiah Silva, the ex-husband of Frances Bean Cobain – the only daughter of Courtney Love and the Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, has filed a lawsuit against Courtney Love and others. A Billboard article reports that Silva claims the 53-year old singer-actress had orchestrated a murder plot against him. He alleges that the plot is in retaliation for an issue revolving around ownership of the late singer’s ultra-rare 1959 Martin D-18E guitar that was used during Nirvana’s legendary MTV Unplugged show.
Others are also named in the suit. Most prominent is Sam Lutfi, a man who is infamous for being Britney Spears’ manager during the pop singer’s very public meltdown in 2007. He is accused by Sylvia of supplying illicit drugs to Love’s daughter, as well as kidnapping, attempted murder, false imprisonment, extortion and more. In a bizarre twist, Ross Butler, the actor who stars in Netflix’s original show 13 Reasons, is also accused of playing a role in the plot.
The civil complaint was filed in Los Angeles County and claims Love, Lutfi and Butler entered into a criminal conspiracy to commit trespass, burglary, home invasion, robbery, assault, battery, kidnapping and murder against Silva. According to the lawsuit, Love, Butler and Lufti partnered with a chauffeur Yan Yukhtman to hack Silva’s iMessage account, posting messages that made him appear suicidal. The alleged plot was to then kidnap and murder Silva, making it appear to be suicide in order to retrieve the guitar and additional property, including a pair of houses.
The whole plot ultimately conspired to take possession of the guitar. According to the lawsuit, the plan was to be executed on June 3, 2016 (two years ago today). The foursome are accused of entering Silva’s home on Curson Avenue in Hollywood – where he was watching a movie with a friend. Silva alleges they claimed to be police officers, kicked his friend out of the house and began threatening him. Silva claims – and the following is extremely graphic – Lufti held him down and groped him, telling him “Listen f****t, calm the fuck down or we’ll drag you upstairs and take turns fucking you.” They then allegedly forced him from his home into their car and attempted to drive away, but Silva’s friend called the police, block the alleged perpetrators from driving down the narrow canyon road before LAPD stopped Lufti, Love, Yukhtman and Butler. While they were stopped by the police, the lawsuit claims that Lufti threatened Silva into going along with story that allowed the alleged kidnappers to avoid arrest.
A source close to the family told Billboard, “Frances and the family are prepared to fight with a fury of unprecedented legal force, and they will prevail.” The guitar was a gift to Silva shortly after the two were married. The two divorced in 2016 and have been battling each other for the item ever since. The guitar is said to be worth millions. A one of a kind model, it was customized by the left-handed Cobain, so he could play it upside doww.
