For those unfamiliar, DevilDriver is a heavy metal band from 2002 formed in Santa Barbara, California and consisted of Dez Fafara on vocals, Mike Spreitzer and Neal Tiemann on guitars, Austin D’Amond on drums, and Diego Ibarra on bass. The only original member that is still a part of the band today, though, is vocalist Fafara.
DevilDriver debuted their music in 2002 with their self-titled album, then known as Deathride. Three years later in 2005, the band decided to change their name to DevilDriver and released an all new album under their new name and continued to release five more albums all through 2016, an extremely hard feat to do.
Presently, DevilDriver have announced their new upcoming full-length studio album Outlaws ‘Til The End: Vol 1 will be released this summer in July through the legendary Napalm Records. You can pre-order the album here with more formats of the forthcoming album coming soon.
Today, through a press release, DevilDriver have announced the release of a second video from a set of interviews in support of the band’s new album. This new video is called “Is This A Country Album?” and features the band members alongside John Carter Cash, Randy Blythe (from Lamb of God), Lee King (of Fear), Hank3, Wednesday 13, and Fear Factory’s Burton Bell all discussing the album and the possible reception the new record will experience. See the interviews below in order.
You can also check out the first single of Outlaws ‘Til The End: Vol 1 in which DevilDriver plays a slaying rendition of Hank3’s song “Country Heroes” in which Hank3 himself plays along with the band.
The video features the heavy hitting cover of “Country Heroes” and is accompanied by a graphic and lyric video. As the music plays on, a hellscape of a broken-down country burns in the background as horses, two-headed snakes, crows, and goats with glowing eyes and fiery nostrils claim the land that once belonged to us humans. About halfway through the piece, Hank3 (I believe) slays a beautifully played slide guitar solo that really brings the heavy metal song into a realm of peace for a brief moment. And if you wanted to learn the words to the song have no fear! The entire video also served as a lyric video featuring old-timey font reminiscent of the film Wild Wild West. Check out the whole tracklist below as well as the song credits to each piece. And if the interviews and cover have enticed you as much as it did me then see below if DevilDriver will visit a city near you on their small tour in the United States.
