Meg Myers is a singer-songwriter who hails from Tennessee and has been moving and rocking our hearts since her debut in 2012 with her album Daughters in the Choir released via Atlantic Records.
The song opens with a surprisingly haunting melody that rolls on until Myers enters with intense, yet, soft vocals. As the song progresses, small changes make the song transform worlds such as a gated bleep that somehow mixes perfectly into the rather acoustic track. The beeps continue their chord roll and the song booms into a loud, crystal clear chorus that brings out a more hopeful side to the song as if asking someone to be with her in any form. At first glance this song seems to be on a road of loneliness as Myers tries to figure out how to feel less so. The chorus seems to act as that reminder that she really isn’t alone, that people around her are experiencing the same instance and moment as she is. With a title that would bring one to the conclusion of a more dance-pop song, the track remains deceiving and hauntingly colorful, letting the listener join in on a brand new world of Myers.
According to the press release, “Take Me to the Disco” was the first song Myers wrote in collaboration with Christian Langdon for the new album. Langdon ended up joining her on 8 more songs for this record. See the tracklist for Take Me to the Disco as well as Myers’ upcoming tour dates below.
