Weird Al Yankovic known for his humorous and satirical songs has given the audience an earful of something else on his recent tour, “The Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-advised Vanity Tour.” The name of the tour itself is a wildly hilarious and honest name for a tour, especially for Weird Al. However, on this tour leg, he has decided to only feature one parody medley. For the most part, in terms of covers, he has decided to stay true to the original artists’ style.
Each stop along the tour has featured something a little bit different from the last leaving the audience on the edge of their seats. Each set has had something new for the fans to listen to.
The comedic musician, Weird Al performed a cover of Foo Fighters’ “This Is a Call” at a San Diego concert recently. As opposed to creating a fun and weird pun, the artist opted to keep the song as it is.
At the show, he introduced the song saying, “This is a song that he had never played before.” And before he began, he asked the audience to “cut [him] some slack.”
With many easy ways to manipulate the song to his style and make fun out of this song, he chose not to, which was a surprising choice. But the satirist and singer gave the fans something that still enjoyed.
