mxdwn PREMIERE: Billy & Dolly “Can’t Stay Calm” in New Song from Upcoming Album Five Suns

Bill Rousseau and Dahlia Gallin Ramirez form the duo Billy & Dolly, with their third LP Five Suns due for release on June 8, 2018 on Shit Krystal. We have the premiere of a new song from that upcoming full-length, a powerful slab of power-pop called “Can’t Stay Calm.” The song starts with Dolly’s circuitous keyboard playing before lightly distorted guitars enter the mix. Billy & Dolly each dollop on a healthy helping of vocal harmonization and melody, making this a Bay Area noise-pop track to remember.

“‘Can’t Stay Calm’ is one the first songs we wrote for what would become the Five Suns album,” said Dolly about the new single. “It’s about finding a kindred blue soul, someone who knows what it’s like to be a kid roaming the foggy streets of San Francisco.”

The two band members are long-standing members of the Bay Area music scene, having cut their teeth in the Moog-featuring band The Monolith. Though that band only lasted a handful of years, Billy & Dolly stuck together as a songwriting duo to emerge with this new project.
