Singer-Songwriter Lykke Li has released a new sultry music video for her song “hard rain.” This is the third song and video from the album, following “utopia” and “deep end” The new video also serves as the second part of the “deep end” video, continuing the intimate love story from the first video and showing more of the ups and downs of being a relationship. Critics have been praising both songs with Rolling Stone praised both songs, saying both have “lush vocals and lyrics…. a mesmerizing ballad [‘hard rain’] filled with subtle synth lines and unexpected vocal flourishes” and Pitchfork saying “inventive sonic choices around every corner. …It’s a futuristic quiet storm, and there’s no shelter.”
Both “hard rain” and “deep end” were shot entirely on an iPhone in Mexico City and were both directed by Anton Tammi. Both songs will be featured on her new upcoming album so sad, so sexy set to be released on June 8th. The new album is the follow up to 2014’s critically acclaimed I Never Learn. “hard rain” was produced by Rostam Batmanglij. See the album artwork and tracklist below.
