U.S. Girls Makes up FYF at the EL Rey Theater July 20th

Meet Meghan Remy, a sophisticated and extremely experienced female musician with diverse style and message. Starting out in small town Illinois with her band, Slut Muffin, at just 15 years old, Remy already foresaw the desperate need for female voices that diverged from talking about which boy they were crushing on. While that is part of the female experience, is not the single upmost thought in a woman’s mind at all times. After moving to Portland years later, Meghan Remy played in three different bands of varying genre’s and now releases music as a solo artist through the name U.S. Girls. Meghan Remy claims pop needed a new genuine female voice, although she doesn’t consider herself a musician. Her albums are even recorded outside of the studio for a more natural and homemade sound.

As the name suggests, U.S. Girls albums take on identities of varies different female centric stories rather than simply Meghan Remy’s own personal autobiographical stories. U.S. Girls represents women in a multifaceted, “real” approach through the lens of a widow, a deceived wife, and many more. U.S. Girls most recent album, In a Poem Unlimited, opened this idea of many voices up even further bringing in over a dozen collaborators on the album. The album takes on a strong them of women wrestling and confronting male authority. The song “M.A.H.” even calls out Barack Obama for charming a nation while still waging into war. Each song tells a unique story of a woman with a different perspective on rage against male authority.

Now, this rage will only be fully expressed with a makeup show from FYF at the El Rey Theater on July 20th 2018. LA Local band, Prettiest Eyes will open for U.S. Girls, with the promise of the same type of fervor that Meghan Remy will bring to the stage.
