Trent Reznor, lead singer and main songwriter for Nine Inch Nails, got into a little bit of an online scuff with a fan on an online fan forum.
Fans were discussing the latest release by the band, Bad Witch, which is the third release in a series after the EP’s Not the Actual Events and Add Violence, title as an LP as opposed to an EP. Bad Witch is a work of six songs and the entire compilation is about 30 minutes total, falling more in line with the definition of an EP. Lead singer Trent Reznor, often on the fan forum as “teitan,” responded to the comments giving his reasons as to why Bad Witch is an LP rather than an EP. He didn’t want the band’s music to be ignored which is the common case with EP’s.
Getting factual and defensive, he said: “Want to know why it’s being labeled an LP instead of an EP? Eps show up with singles in Spotify and other streaming services = they get lost easier. EP’s feel less important in today’s music-isn’t-as-important-as-it-once-was world. Why make it easier to ignore? We’re not charging any more for it so why get worked up about it?” And he wrapped up his speech with an angry jab at Quantum550 saying, “suck my entire c**k.”
Regardless of whether the album is an EP or an LP, the band plans to release the album on June 22. They have released “God Break Down the Door,” a single from the new LP. The song has a haunting, frenzied sound with the saxophone and other brass instruments to back up the vocals. Fans can expect more of this hair-raising music on the final part of the trilogy.
The band will also begin touring in September to celebrate the release of the latest album and the trilogy of work that they have created over the past few years. The COLD AND BLACK AND INFINITE NORTH AMERICA 2018 tour will be everything that fans will be looking forward to.
