Not FYF but the Roxy will do for Malkmus & The Jicks on July 19th

With the release of their 7^th studio album, this being Malkmus’ 12^th studio album, no cancelled festival is going to stop this band from rocking out. Originally scheduled to perform at FYF festival on July 21^st and July 22^nd FYF was cancelled this year due to an “inability to present an experience on par with [fan] expectations.” Wow. What a slap in the face to the already scheduled bands. Regardless, Malkmus & The Jicks will disappoint no one with their performance at the Roxy Theatre on July 19^th 2018. Malkmus himself is a seasoned veteran, coming from influential 90’s indie rock band Pavement. Malkmus was the singer and songwriter behind Pavement, and the remainder of the band have varying experiences that enrich their performances as well as their art as a whole.

Their latest album, “Sparkle Hard” was released on May 18^th 2018 and shockingly embraces modern day without nostalgia or reminiscing in days of old with Pavement. The album bravely mentions timely political manners such as Black Lives Matter and the #MeToo movement. It is said the album pokes fun at the socially aware middle class for claiming they care about a cause, but in reality, they care most about their pride.

Yet whether you agree with their political message or not, it is no denying this music and performance veterans. At this point they know how to work the crowd and put on one incredible show.
