Ty Segall and White Fence will once again team up and release new album for the first time in six years with a July release called Joy. They released the garage rock masterpiece Hair in 2012 on Drag City Records that saw them take their alt psychedelic sound to the limits but with their new release they are trying to capitalize on the momentum.
They have released the lead single from Joy called “Good Boy” and they continue to push the prog boundaries while taking a newer soothing and harmonius approach. The song brings back the memories of tracks from Hair like “(I Can’t) Get Around You” and “I Am Not a Game.”
Both artists have stayed creative with their own respective projects without each other, but when collaborating they are able to find a way to offer up fans a fresh look at their abilities and keen approach to rock and roll. Like on Segall’s Freedom’s Goblin and White Fence’s Family Perfume Vol. 1 and 2 the duo uses pounding percussion and the vintage fuzz of distorted guitars to create an undeniable sound that is bound to capture a new group of fans.
