Famed actress and Harvard graduate Natalie Portman is scheduled to curate the Boston Calling Film Festival running from May 22-24 at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, this coming days prior to the Boston Calling music festival happening May 25-27.

In a press release Portman stated “ I’m so excited to show films that I love that explore the female gaze. I don’t think there is anything inherently different between male and female artists, but these are examples of great works of art in which similar storylines have female tropes that play out quite differently depending on who is telling the story. I’m looking forward to sharing these with an audience and hearing their reactions. It makes it an even more special opportunity to watch these incredible films on the big screen at one of my favorite movie theaters,” she said.

She teased on her Instagram story which was then tweeted out by Boston Calling that she will be joined by Clarice Jensen, American Contemporary Music Ensemble, St. Vincent, Leikeli47 and Zola Jesus claiming “ You don’t want to miss this.” The festival will feature films such as Lolita directed by Stanley Kubrick, The Exorcist directed by William Friedkin and Belle de Jour directed by Luis Bunuel.

The music festival will feature performances by The Killers, Eminem, Fleet Foxes, The Decemberists, Paramore, Jack White, Queens of the Stone Age, St. Vincent, Royal Blood, Pussy Riot and Manchester Orchestra among many more.

Tickets for both festivals can be purchased here.
