Chromatics fans can exhale as the popular electronic band have announced a fall 2018 release for their long awaited album Dear Tommy. Furthering the excitement the band have shared a new single called “Black Walls.” However, the song was not listed as one of the 17 tracks to originally be on the album, so should that be cause for concern?
The song features the bands signature synth sound and vocalist Ruth Radelet magnificently howls her way to glory while offering an inside look into her world of metaphorical poetry. The percussion compliments the moving synth lines and pounds from beginning to end creating an intense listening experience.
Dear Tommy was originally announced in 2014 with songs like “Just Like You” and “Shadow” being shared at various times but the bands unpredictable producer Johnny Jewel had grown apart from the record. He then proceeded to obliterate the physical copies of the album which resulted in thousands of vinyl LPs and CDs being eliminated from existence.
The band have released six studio albums with the last one being Cherry (Deluxe) in 2013. They made their debut in 2003 with Chrome Rats vs. Basement Rutz and recently the band performed the single “Shadow” at the end of the two-hour-long season premiere of Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival series, which aired on May 21, 2017.
