French psych-pop vocalist Melody Prochet is about to unleash her long-awaited album, Bon Voyage under the name Melody’s Echo Chamber. The expansive new album is set to come out this summer on June 15th but the singer has already started preparing her fans with glimpses inside her record by sharing with fans with previously shared tracks, “Breathe In, Breathe Out,” and “Cross My Heart.” Today, the French musician has unveiled another track from the album called “Desert Horse,” and this one is a keeper.
“Desert Horse” is a psychedelic pop song that jam-packed with synths, infused with Eastern melodies and Prochet breathless diving into her lyrical journey. Prochet describes the track in a press statement that, “it is a monster.” She continues by saying that, “It’s the most sculptural and mad I guess. It embodies my difficult life journey these last few years through my own personal desert of heartaches, thirst, mirages, moving sands, disillusionment and of becoming an adult woman in a mad world. It’s a little punk to me somehow.”
According to the press release, Bon Voyage is a collaborative record between Prochet and Dungen’s Reine Fiske and The Amazing’s Fredrik Swahn. It also features special guests Gustav Esjtes and Johan Holmegaard (both from Dungen) and Nicholas Allbrook (Pond). The record combines Melody’s breathless soprano to the wildest sonic excursions as she tells a tale of her spiritual search and emotional healing in not only English but also French and Swedish. Bon Voyage comes to fans more than five years after Melody’s Echo Chamber’s debut and a year after Prochet suffered a serious injury causing her to cancel most of her 2017 tour dates.
