Lords of Acid are back with a highly anticipated new album on May 18. Clever as always, the title Pretty in Kink is a subversive take on a pop culture institution, chock full of the hardcore techno that the Belgian group has been pumping out for decades. We have the premiere of a new track from that album, a slow-burning affair called “Goldfinger.”
Hinting at the titular Bond villian, the song takes on a seductive, grandiose atmosphere with synths replicating the sounds a full orchestra would have created for a more traditionally-minded group. The song does break into classic rave music about half-way through the track before returning to the slow-paced verse. The vocalist, Marieke Bresseleers, calls out “Goldfinger / Give me your loving / I’m drenched with desire.”
“Goldfinger” is the second song to be released from Pretty in Kink, which was first announced way back in late 2016 when the group started Kickstarter account to fund the record. It follows the lead single, “So Goddamn Good,” which was released along with the album announcement earlier this month. Just last year the band announced their return to the stage in North America, playing their first shows in six years.
