Hipnosis Announces 2018 Lineup Featuring King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Wooden Shjips

Via Facebook, Hipnosis announced the line-up for the upcoming 2018 Hipnosis Festival on October 6th at Deportivo del Estado Mayor Presidencial in Mexico City. The festival will include acts King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Wooden Shjips, Allah-Las, Build Vista and San Pedro El Cortez. Tickets are available at hipnosis2018.boletia.com

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, formed in Melbourne Australia in 2010, are known for their psychedelic-rock sound with a pop edge. Gizzard surprised fans by releasing their 2017 album, Polygondwanaland, as a free digital download, according to pitchfork. A note, accompanying the album, generously told fans to “Make tapes, make CD’s, make records.”

Another band playing the event, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, also known for their psychedelic edge, released their 2018 album titled Sex & Food, April 6. In an interview for uproxx, frontman Ruban Nielson spoke about making the album in Vietnam: “Cause it has a quite soulful environment, but it’s also quite hard to record there because of the humidity and things like that, which I think is good. I kind of like that stuff. I like to have some aspect of it be challenging. I like to be overwhelmed, because when I’m overwhelmed I tend to be more vulnerable and then I think I make better music.”

Other acts on the bill include Wooden Shjips, Allah-Las, Build a Vista and San Pedro El Cortez.

Tickets for the 2018 Hipnosis festival are on sale now.
