Kacey Musgraves Tells A Colorful Love Story in New Video for “Butterflies”

Kacey Musgraves has released a music video for “Butterflies”, from Golden Hour. This follows the artist performing at the Stagecoach Festival.

“Butterflies”, along with “Space Cowboy” and “High Horse”, was one of the three songs that have been released in order to hype of the audience for the album. Golden Hour is the seventh studio album released by Musgraves, released on March 30th through the label Mercury Records.

As mentioned by SPIN, the song flutters with bright, pop flourishes with Musgraves’ strong voice keeping things grounded and melancholic. In an interview with NPR and asked about “Butterflies”, Musgraves stated “‘Butterflies’ represents those feelings that you have when you’re first meeting somebody and you fall in love. This was the first song actually that I wrote after meeting my now-husband, so it was about three weeks after I met him. I was all in. I was like, ‘This is my person.'”

The video shows the artist in the bar and walking through street with occasional flashes of butterfly wings. The artist sings about a love story between her and a man, as there are clips of her with a glittery  bodysuit laying her head on a man’s chest. There are also images of flowers blooming and the eye’s pupils dilating. The video can be watched below.
