As contentious as he is, genius singer-songwriter Mark Kozelek also has a notorious record for being ridiculously prolific. And as the tirades against journalists and publications died down, he shows that he is not planning on giving up his other reputation either.
At the moment, he has so far announced that he has plans to release a self-titled album under his own name on May 11, a new Sun Kil Moon record later this year in November, and then a collaborative album with saxophonist Donny McCaslin (who was featured in David Bowie’s Blackstar) and Jim White (a past Kozelek collaborator, from the Dirty Three).
Though the official release of his self-titled record will be in another week or so via his own Caldo Verde Records, Kozelek already has made the album available to stream in full on the website for Sun Kil Moon.
With the official release of the record just a week away, Kozelek has released a new animated music video for the song “Weed Whacker,” the fifth track on the album. The clip, an amalgamation of Kozelek’s rambling minutiae-intensive lyrics turned into short film, was directed and created by animator Luke Gibbs.
