An unholy marriage between gore and metal continues today with the Dead Cross surprise release of their self-titled EP and the new video for the song ,“My perfect prisoner.” The savage hardcore supergroup consists of drummer Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Misfits), vocalist Mike Patton (Faith No More, Tomahawk), guitarist Mike Crain (Retox, Festival of Dead Deer) and bassist Justin Pearson (The Locust, Retox). According to Stereogum, the band released their EP without warning and includes two new songs, “Skin of A Redneck” and “My Perfect Prisoners” with remixes of tracks “Shillelagh” and “Church of the Motherfuckers.”
The new video for “My Perfect Prisoner,” directed by Eric Livingston, who also created the stark and haunting cover art for their full length debut and newly released self-titled EP, perfectly mirrors the song’s assault on the senses with its rapid cuts and campy gore. Pearson recently said of the band’s style, “I think part of Dead Cross’ motives are to bridge gaps between useless genres and definitions. Part also might be to just burn that shit down. It’s in our collective DNA. Either way, as long as people love it or hate it, we succeed.”
Dead Cross, the EP, is available digitally, with a limited 10-inch black/green swirl vinyl version set to be released June 29.
Dead Cross Tracklist:
1. Skin of a Redneck
