Tool Debut New Song “Descending” in New Teaser for Music Clinic Tour

Tool fans that have been salivating for a new slice of music from the quartet since they released their last album 10,000 Days in 2006. They’ll be excited about today’s news that the band has shared a snippet of new music that accompanies a trailer for their music clinic tour.

In addition to the new music, the trailer outlines the full list of tour dates for Danny Carey, Adam Jones and Justin Chancellor. Those three make up the instrumental core of Tool, while singer Maynard James Keenan adds vocals and melodies to their prog-metal compositions. Those that closely watch Tool will be familiar with “Descending.” The band has played the track live before.

It appears that a new album release from Tool is imminent. The band has always taken a considerable amount of time between albums, but the 12 year gap between 10,000 Years is by far the longest. Tom Morello claims to have heard the new music, which apparently Tool began recording in March. Part of the issue is that Maynard doesn’t do vocals until the music is ready, a point he has repeatedly made on social media when fans ask about a new Tool album.

From all the reports that have been released so far, it appears that new music from Tool in imminent. Keenan has been busy with the latest A Perfect Circle album and tour, as well as working with Puscifer over the last few years. The idea of a new album from Tool seems closer than ever but simultaneously a distant dream.
