Swedish singer-songwriter Robyn has just posted updates on the album which she announced she was working on just this past february, alongside Joe Mount of English electronic outfit Metronomy.
Robyn originally tweeted back on February 19 “Thinking about space, if its public space. Who decides what gets to be in public space?” in a very Kanye West-like post, to which a fan (@virtualrulo) answered “Who decides your next album release date tbh”. Robyn replied to the fan saying, “I do. Some time this year honey”, which led to a virtual storm as fans expressed their delight.
Thankfully, Robyn has been keeping up on her promise. Following her 2016 Metronomy collaboration track “Hang Me Out To Dry” from the band’s record Summer 08 as well as a series of live shows, she has posted several pictures of herself and producer Klas Åhlund and Mount himself in London’s Strongroom Studio.
“The songs we’ve written for Robyn’s album are varied,” he told Classic Pop magazine. “Some are like classic ‘90s Robyn pop, but we’re also pushing my writing to sound a bit more modern, to match her up-to-date mind. Robyn is still figuring out what to do with her album, so my songs might not even be used. But it’s been so much fun working with Robyn that I wouldn’t mind.”
