It has been just over two years since the shocking death of Prince, and the continuing fallout from that event has reached another level as Prince’s family has filed a lawsuit against the hospital that treated him days before his death from a drug overdose, as reported by Spin. Prince’s family is suing the Illinois hospital that treated Prince for a drug overdose days before his death, claiming that the hospital failed to properly diagnose the overdose. A few days before his death Prince landed at a hospital in Moline Illinois to be treated for an unknown ailment, which we now know was an overdose of opiates. When Prince arrived at the hospital to be treated, he refused a urine toxicology report and a blood test to conceal his addiction to painkillers, leaving immediatly after he was treated. Prince died six days later of an overdose of the drug Fentanyl. Toxicology reports indicated that Prince had exceedingly high levels of the opioid Fentanyl in his system at the time of his death, having accidentally taken a fatal amount due to incorrect labeling of the bottle.

The Police who were investigating Prince’s death recently announced that no criminal charges would be filed after extensively going over the details of the case. Recent data released from the investigation showed that  Prince’s inner circle were concerned with his growing opioid addiction in the days before his death.

UPDATE 5/3: Prince’s family is now also suing Walgreens for dispensing narcotics to Prince for invalid reasons and that the pharmacy failed to do their due diligence and perform a drug utilization review, as reported by Pitchfork.
