18th & Addison is the collaborative efforts of New Jersey punks Tom Kunzman and Kait DiBenedetto. The two are prepping work on a new EP called Vultures and in preparation for its release we have the premiere of the record’s first single, “Time Bomb,” which features classic pop-punk aggression with modern songwriting sensibility. The video is a hilarious accompaniment to the song, featuring the two band members serving as judges for “Ocean County’s Got Talent.”
“This music video was brought to life so seamlessly,” said DiBenedetto. “We knew we wanted to make a fun video and we literally laughed the entire day shooting it. We wanted to poke some lighthearted fun at the whole viral video thing that often glorifies certain “talent” that we personally just don’t understand the hype of yet somehow can’t stop watching when they start which relates directly to the lyrics of the song. At the end of the video, you see two people who genuinely love what they do and don’t care what people think of them and that’s the attitude we pride ourselves on having and representing.”
“‘Time Bomb’ is the first song we wrote for ‘Vultures,’ said Kunzman. “It’s a song about feeling a strong attachment to something you really love even though you know it’s hurting you. Most people won’t understand why you keep doing certain things or spending time with certain people but we all have our own way of dealing with our pain.”‘
The two band leaders have a long history in the Jersey music scene, forming 18th and Addison after their previous projects dissolved. Kunzman was playing in A Criminal Risk while DiBenedetto performed with Chad Gilbert (of New Found Glory) in his side project What’s Eating Gilbert. The two connected after having grown up in the same New Jersey city of Toms River.
