Tyler the Creator has returned with a sentimental new track called “Rose Tinted Cheeks.” The 27 year old Californian said of the track, “Back when working on Flower Boy, it was a song I never finished or went back to.” He continued, “I’ve had it laying around and figured I just put it out as the demo or rough draft it is. Not really mixed or anything.”

Creator released the album Flower Boy in July of 2017 as a follow up to 2015s Cherry Bomb. He has released two other studio albums including Wolf in 2013 and his debut album called Goblin in 2011. In the new 2018 track, which originated as an idea in 2016, Tyler references the film 20th Century Women from that same year. The film is an exploration into single motherhood and free-spirited adolescence in the midst of challenging culture change and confusion.

“Rose Tinted Cheeks” may also be familiar to Creator fans as it is a lyric taken from the song “See You Again” from Flower Boy. Shortly after releasing the song Tyler took to twitter saying perhaps the hook of the song would be better suited by female vocals.

“Rose Tinted Cheeks” drops less than a month after Tyler dropped “OKRA,” another lone single produced by Happy Place. “Cheeks” is a confessional about a love that got away due to being constrained by the fear of expression. Listen to the track below.
