This year marks the 20th anniversary of Lauryn Hill’s debut solo album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The album was released on August 25th, 1998, by Ruffhouse Records and Columbia Records. Since the release of the album, it has gone platinum eight times, and at the 41st Grammy Awards, the record grabbed an impressive five awards.
To celebrate the anniversary, Lauryn Hill has announced a new North American tour where she will perform The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in its entirety. News of the tour follows Hill’s performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame over the weekend where she paid tribute to the late Nina Simone. She will kick off July 5th in Virginia Beach and wrap up on October 10th in St. Louis, there will be stops on both U.S. coasts as well as Canada stops in between. Hill will also headline Chicago’s Pitchfork Music Festival on July 22nd.

UPDATE (6/19): Hill has announced a slew of high-profile special guests during her 2018 tour. According to Spin, the legendary R&B singer will be joined by Nas, M.I.A., Dave Chappelle and more on select dates. Others who will make appearances at the shows include A$AP Rocky, Busta Rhymes, Santigold, Big Boi, De La Soul, Kelala, Nas, Dave Chapelle, SZA, Shabazz Palaces and others.
Additionally, a new show at the Hollywood Bowl has been announced for September 18 with Dave Chappelle and De La Soul. See below for the full list of performers on each specific date.
UPDATE (8/20): According to Brooklyn Vegan, Lauryn Hill has added an additional show to her 20th anniversary Miseducation of Lauryn Hill tour. The new date includes a New Jersey show scheduled for October 22nd at NJPAC. At the moment, there are no planned openers for that set but that may change in the future.
Hill had previously canceled some shows that were part of the tour which included the August 8th NJ native’s show. For New Jersey fans who were excited to attend but had to cancel their plans and would like to attend this brand new show, can purchase tickets when they go on sale this Friday, August 24th at 10 AM.
