American black metal band, Deafheaven, from San Francisco, shared a new track today titled “Honeycomb.” The song marks the band’s first new music in three years, not since they released their third studio album back in 2015, New Bermuda.
“Honeycomb” clocks in around 12-minutes and the song is accompanied by a video made up of shots around their home base of San Francisco. It is a multifaceted track transitioning between headbanging metal to hard rock and to add to the song’s mix; the band adds a delicate ending to spice things up. Mixing the kind of song that “Honeycomb” is with the visuals may not make sense, but it doesn’t have to. This is who Deafheaven is and as we, the viewers catch glimpses of their home surroundings, gives fans a deeper understanding of the band.
According to Pitchfork, the band’s representatives have revealed that the band is currently in the process of making their fourth album which they have called Ordinary Corrupt Human Love. They have started recording at 25th St. Recording in Oakland with their producer Jack Shirley who has collaborated with the group before. Deafheaven is hoping to release the album sometime in July via Anti-.
