David Byrne Performs The BPA Song “Toe Jam” and Covers Janelle Monae’s Protest Song “Hell You Talmbout”

David Byre’s 2018 Coachella set was a triumph, featuring songs from his new solo album, classic Talking Heads hit and a few special rarities. First he performed “Toe Jam,” a song by the electronic band The BPA that was written by David Byrne and featured Dizzee Rascal and production by Fatboy Slim. While neither Fatboy Slim nor Dizzee Rascal could accompany Byrne on the track, he offered up a rare performance of one of his most notably contemporary releases.

Later in his set at Coachella 2018, Byrne covered the anti-war track “Hell You Talmbout” by Janelle Monae. The single was released as a protest towards the deaths of African American men who have died at the hands of law enforcement over the last few years.
